Sulfur Bacteria

Sulfur Bacteria - Some of the sulfur bacteria are capable of producing or tolerating extreme acidity. For example, Thilobacillus oxidises elemental sulfur to sulfuric acid. This produces an acid pH which leads to corrosion of pipes. Desulfovibrio desulfuricans reduces sulfur compounds like sulfates to hydrogen sulfide which produces undesirable odor
